ISTANBUL, February 13. /TASS/. Russia’s Zenit St. Petersburg lost 0:1 to Turkey’s Fenerbahce in its first game of the UEFA Europa League Round of 32 on Tuesday evening.

It was the first-ever encounter between the two football clubs. The only goal in the game, which took place at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium in Istanbul, was scored by Islam Slimani on the 21st minute. Zenit midfielder Robert Mak missed a penalty on the 44th minute.

Prior to the game, a minute of silence was observed in memory of Argentine footballer Emiliano Sala, who died in a plane crash last month.
