BUCHAREST, January 8. /TASS/. A US Navy’s Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship, USS Fort McHenry, made a call at the Romanian port of Constanta on January 7, the Romanian Navy headquarters said.

The vessel will stay in the port until January 10. After the visit is over, Fort McHenry will hold joint sea maneuvers with Romania’s Regele Ferdinand frigate in Romania’s territorial waters and international waters of the Black Sea.

Russian frigate Pytlivy of the Black Sea Fleet observes the US warship’s operations in the Black Sea.

A US Navy spokesperson told TASS on Monday that the warship has been dispatched in the Black Sea in line with the international law, including the 1936 Montreux Convention, which specifies the type of ships that can patrol the sea and amount of time a vessel can remain in the area.
