In 2018, Ukraine decided to extradite 22 persons to Russia, including those accused of killing Forbes Russian editor-in-chief Paul Khlebnikov, Magomed Dukuzov.

This is stated in the report of the Prosecutor General Yury Chaika, received by the Council of Federation, on the state of law and order in the Russian Federation last year.

“Despite the aggravation of interstate relations between Russia and Ukraine, thanks to the efforts of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of Ukraine this year made decisions on the extradition of 22 persons to Russia, including M.I. Dukuzov, who was accused of the murder of the chief editor of the Russian edition of Forbes “US citizen Paul Khlebnikov”, – quotes excerpts from the report Seagulls RIA Novosti.

Recall that the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation in May 2017 sent a request for the extradition of Dukuzov to Ukrainian colleagues. The SBU reported on his detention in Kiev in November 2017.

Dukuzov is also suspected of involvement in the murder of the former chief of staff of the head of Chechnya, Yakov (Yana) Sergunin, in 2004.

RBC recalls that the first Glavred Russian Forbes editor Paul Khlebnikov was shot on July 9, 2004 at the exit from the magazine’s editorial office. The fire went from a car in which there were three people.

The investigation concluded that the crime was committed by members of the organized criminal group. In the Prosecutor General’s indictment, it was reported that Kazbek Dukuzov, his brother Magomed, Musa Vakhayev, Magomed Edilsultanov and others were involved in the killing, and the field commander Khozh-Akhmed Nukhayev about whom Khlebnikov wrote the book Conversation with the Beast was the customer.

In early 2015, Russia sent a request for the extradition of Dukuzov from prison to the United Arab Emirates, where he was in charge of crimes committed in Dubai, but he was released in the summer of 2015 and disappeared. Later, the criminal appeared in Ukraine.
