WASHINGTON, November 9. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump sarcastically suggested accusing the Russian authorities of vote counting problems in the US states of Florida and Georgia. The American leader published the corresponding message on Twitter on Friday.

“You mean they are just now finding votes in Florida and Georgia – but the Election was on Tuesday? Let’s blame the Russians and demand an immediate apology from President Putin!” he tweeted.

Earlier, Florida Governor, Republican Rick Scott who is running for the Senate, accused election officials in two districts of the US state of mishandling ballots and filed lawsuits against them.

According to previously published data, Scott defeated his rival, Democrat Bill Nelson, in the election of a Florida senator. On Thursday, it became known that the votes can be recounted. A similar situation occurred in the state of Georgia.

The midterm elections to the US Congress and local governments that took place on Tuesday elected 35 of the 100 members of the Senate, all 435 members of the House of Representatives, as well as state and territory governors, as well as 6,073 state legislatures, judges and councilors of school districts. Following the results of the elections, the Republicans retained a majority in the Senate, and for the first time in 8 years the Democrats received a majority in the House of Representatives.

Trump and his assistants repeatedly rejected suspicions of illegal contacts with Russian officials during the election campaign, Moscow also repeatedly denied such allegations.
