International representatives, being present as observers at the elections of the head and deputies of parliament in the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, do not violate any law of the EU and Germany, said a public figure from Germany, the head of the Left Party faction in the city council of Kvakenbyuk, told a press conference elections in the LC and the DPR Andreas Maurer.
Earlier, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine reported that the Security Service of Ukraine opened a criminal case “on the fact of organizing illegal elections in the“ temporarily occupied territories ”in the Donbas.
“I asked my lawyers … Neither I, nor my colleagues, nor from Holland, nor from Finland, we do not violate any European law, not one law of the Federal Republic of Germany …” said Maurer.
He stressed that the German law says that every citizen can ride, walk, visit the places he wants, and express his opinion about what he saw.
“We came, we looked … Therefore, according to the legislation of the European Union or Germany, it is impossible to punish us for this.
On my trips to the Crimea, Lugansk, Donetsk in Germany, there are 12 notes of protest in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Honestly, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister is already tired of the German Foreign Ministry. He always brings them (notes of protest) there, and he always threatens that I will receive some more letter from the prosecutor’s office from Kiev, ”the international observer said.
He clarified that he would have doubted the correctness of his actions if he were the only observer at the elections in the LC and the DPR.
“Maybe if I were sitting here alone, I would have thought about it. But the fact that my colleagues from Holland, Finland from other countries that today received certificates (international observers at the elections in the LC) – 22 countries – shows that there are more and more of us. And I am sure that this process cannot be stopped, ”said Maurer.
Elections of heads and deputies of the DPR and the LPR are scheduled for November 11. Kiev said it did not recognize the elections, they are considered illegitimate by the European Union and the United States. At the same time, as the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov emphasized, the elections in the DPR and the LPR do not go against the Minsk agreements.
