Representatives of the US administration contacted the Kremlin’s administration after a failed meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, it was decided to continue the dialogue, presidential aide Yury Ushakov told reporters.
“There were contacts,” said Ushakov.
“It was proposed to continue contacts on both sides, including with Bolton himself,” he added.
To the clarifying question of whose side the initiative of such contacts came from, Ushakov answered: “From the Americans”.
At the same time, the presidential aide found it difficult to predict when it would be possible to talk about preparations for the meeting of leaders. “We do not know,” he said.
“We expressed regret that it was not possible (for the two presidents at the summit) to talk in detail … Let’s see how plans will be made further,” said Ushakov.
Earlier, Trump canceled a meeting with Putin on the fields of the G20 because of the incident in the Kerch Strait. No other informal communication between the leaders is also planned. According to presidential aide Yury Ushakov, the presidents “greeted” at the summit.
