TASS, April 14. Syrian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Walid Muallem held a meeting on Sunday with United Nations Special Envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen to discuss efforts on ironing out the Syrian crisis, the Syrian Foreign Ministry wrote on its Facebook page.

“During the meeting, the sides discussed the ongoing efforts aimed at achieving progress in the political [settlement] of the Syrian crisis and completing consultations on the political process, including on a constitutional committee,” the ministry said.

The Syrian foreign minister listened to the envoy’s report on the steps taken since his latest visit to Damascus last month.

Al-Watan newspaper reported that Pedersen arrived in Damascus on a two-day visit on Saturday.
