MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. Russia’s Spartak Moscow defeated Glasgow Rangers 4:3, clinching its first victory in the UEFA Europa League group stage during this season.
During the game, the Moscow club found itself on the losing side three times, but managed to recover. The goals were scored by Lorenzo Melgarejo (22’), Luiz Adriano (58’) and Sofiane Hanni (59) for Spartak; and by Daniel Candeias (27’) and Glenn Middleton (41’) for Glasgow Rangers.
Besides, Roman Eremenko of Spartak and Connor Goldson of Glasgow Rangers scored own goals.
The game was interrupted on the 35th minute due to use of pyrotechnics at the stadium.
It was Spartak’s first Europa League group stage victory this season. The team also has one defeat and two draws on its record.
In another group G match today, Austria’s Rapid Wien had a goalless draw with Spain’s Villarreal.
With two rounds left, Spartak is ranked third in the group with five points. Villarreal holds the top spot with 6 points, followed by Rangers and Spartak (five points each) and Rapid Wien (4 points).
During the next matchday, Spartak will take on Rapid, while Glasgow Rangers will take on Villarreal on November 29.
