ZHUHAI, November 8. /TASS/. The Russian Helicopters holding affiliated with Rostec Corporation held talks with the Chinese company United Aviation Technology on establishing its maintenance center in Shenzhen. The relevant contract will be signed before the end of the year, the press service of Russian Helicopters reported.
“Russian Helicopters and United Aviation Technology are currently considering a draft general contract for the establishment of a maintenance center for Ka-32A11BC and Mi-171 helicopters in Shenzhen, as well as a draft contract for conducting a technical audit of an aircraft repair base in Tianjin. At the Airshow China, we held another round of talks in order to sign both documents by the end of the year,” the holding’s general director Andrey Boginsky said as quoted by the press service.
An official with the press service recalled that in February 2016, the holding signed with CITIC Offshore Helicopters, AVIC International and Avicopter (formed the Chinese joint venture United Aviation Technology) a framework agreement on the establishment of a center for repair and maintenance of Russian helicopters in Shenzhen.
China has a large fleet of Russian helicopters, and therefore is also interested in equipping the repair base in Tianjin for similar tasks.
“China is one of the largest operators of Russian-made helicopters, the number of registered Russian aircraft exceeds 300 units. Mi-8/17 and Ka-32A11BC helicopters are successfully operated throughout China, particularly in hard-to-reach regions and regions with severe climate conditions,” Anatoly Serdyukov, head of the aviation cluster of Rostec said as quoted by the press service. Serdyukov stressed that the creation of the centers is the most important infrastructure project, which contributes to increasing the competitiveness and export potential of the Russian helicopter technology.
