Russian cross-country skier Vylegzhanin: World Cup’s Oslo stage to be last in my career

SEEFELD /Austria/, February 27. /TASS/. Russian Olympic medalist in cross-country skiing Maxim Vylegzhanin told journalists on Wednesday he planned to wrap up with sports career next month after the 2018-2019 FIS Cross-Country World Cup’s stage in Norway’s Oslo.

Vylegzhanin, who is the 2015 world champion and three-time silver medalist of the 2014 Winter Olympics, announced this decision at the 2019 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, hosted by Austria’s Seefeld between February 20 and March 3.

“I am planning to race at the World Cup in Oslo, which will be the last one in my career,” the 36-year-old cross country skier said.

Vylegzhanin showed 33rd result earlier in the day in the 15km Classical race at the 2019 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships.

The 2018-2019 FIS Cross-Country World Cup stage in Norway’s Oslo is scheduled for March 9-10.
