MOSCOW, February 19. /TASS/. Russian Helicopters Group (part of the hi-tech state corporation Rostec) will feature the deck-based version of the Kamov Ka-226T light multirole helicopter at the Aero India-2019 international exhibition in Bangalore on February 20-24, the Group’s press office reported on Tuesday.
“The model of the deck-based Ka-226T light helicopter will be a key exhibit on the Group’s display stand this year. The seaborne version is distinguished by its system of the rotor’s folding blades,” the press office said.
“Besides, the helicopter is equipped with the latest onboard equipment and its components and systems are suited for operation in the aggressive marine environment,” the press office added.
The helicopter’s small dimensions make it possible to place the rotorcraft on ships and vessels with small displacement. The helicopter’s shipborne version is designed to carry out search and rescue and transport missions day and night in any weather conditions.
There are also plans to launch the production of Ka-226T helicopters on Indian soil.
“India is, undoubtedly, our strategic partner and at this air show we will continue discussing one of our key projects: arranging the local production of Ka-226T choppers in that country… This helicopter can logically continue cooperation we are building under the ‘Make in India’ program,” the Group’s press office quoted Company CEO Andrei Boginsky as saying.
The Russian Helicopters Group will also demonstrate the Ansat and Mi-171A2 models at India’s air show and hold a series of talks on the prospects of these helicopters’ deliveries. The company is currently completing work on validating the relevant certificate. The first Mi-171A2 helicopter will be delivered to the Indian customer this year. In addition, the Russian rotorcraft manufacturer will present the model of the latest Mi-38 civil helicopter.
The Russian Helicopters Group is also seeking to build partnership with customers on new principles, suggesting that strategic relationships with the operator should be sealed by long-term contracts on a tender-free basis and the partners should switch to work under ‘a life cycle’ contract.
