MADRID, November 6. /TASS/. Russia hopes to sign an agreement on cooperation in the fight against terrorism with Spain soon, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a joint news conference after negotiations with Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation Josep Borrell.

“We expect our joint efforts to prepare an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the fight against terrorism to be successful,” he noted. “This draft document is being studied by our Spanish colleagues.”

The Russian foreign minister expressed satisfaction with the way” the bilateral interagency group on countering new challenges and threats with a focus on counter-terrorism tasks started operating.”

“A regular session of this group was held in Madrid on July 3. We are now preparing for the next meeting in Moscow,” Lavrov added.
