MOSCOW, February 12./TASS/. Russia expects that joint projects with North Korea and South Korea will get a boost this year, the director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s First Asian Department Georgy Zinoviev said at a reception at the North Korean Embassy in Moscow marking the birthday of Kim Jong Il on Tuesday.
“We are interested in expanding and strengthening multidimensional cooperation between our countries, in giving a boost to ties on practical trajectories, including in multi-lateral format with the participation of South Korean partners,” the diplomat said, expressing hope that this year will see new achievements.
According to North Korean Ambassador in Moscow Kim Hyung Jun, “atmosphere of peace is being created” on the Korean peninsula owing to the country’s leader Kim Jong Un, “that the whole world welcomes”.
“We are connected by mountains and rivers. We will be making every effort to develop cooperation based on respect for the sovereignty and non-interference,” the diplomat said.
