Putin wishes Happy New Year to heads of international sports organizations

MOSCOW, December 30. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has wished a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to heads and members of international sports organizations, thanking FIFA President Gianni Infantino for his support in the organization of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the Kremlin press service informed on Sunday.

“The President of the Russian Federation… has sent congratulatory messages to several heads of international organizations, in particular… Honorary President of the International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach, Honorary Member of the International Olympic Committee Jean-Claude Killy, President of the International Ice Hockey Federation Ren Fasel and President of the International Judo Federation Marius Vizer,” the message states.

The Russian leader also congratulated Infantino, thanking him for his support during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, an event which has become “a real celebration for millions of football fans all over the world.”

The 2018 FIFA World Cup took place in 11 Russian cities from June 14 to July 15, 2018. France took home the cup after beating Croatia in the final match.
