Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he had discussed with the Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan the implementation of contracts for the supply of Triumph S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems to the republic.
“We discussed the state of cooperation between Russia and Turkey in the military-technical sphere, in particular the implementation of the contract for the supply to Turkey of the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems. It was also about other current and promising projects in the framework of military-technical cooperation, ”Putin said at a press conference following the Russian-Turkish talks.
The Russian leader also said that other topics were discussed at the talks, in particular the construction of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline and the Akkuyu nuclear power plant.
According to Putin, the other day the docking of the offshore section of the gas pipeline with its land extension to the coast of Turkey was carried out, and “by the end of this year, Russian gas will begin to flow to Turkish consumers along this route.
“In the future, after the expansion of the Turkish Stream capacity and the construction of its second branch, deliveries will also be made in transit to Europe. I would stress that both of these projects, both Akkuyu NPP and Turkish Stream, meet the highest environmental and technological requirements and standards and will become the most important elements in ensuring regional and European energy security, ”the president concluded.
