NOVO-OGAREVO, November 29. /TASS/. President Vladimir Putin has approved the updated version of Russia’s Energy Security doctrine of the Energy Security of the Russian Federation and will officially approve it by his decree, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said on Thursday.

He was speaking after the meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation at which this document was discussed.

“A new Doctrine has been approved, which will be approved as a strategic document by a presidential decree,” Patrushev said.

He added that the update of the doctrine that was adopted in 2012, is required due to new challenges and threats. According to the Security Council secretary, the Energy Ministry worked hard together with other federal agencies and experts to prepare the document. As part of this work Patrushev held a series of relevant meeting in all federal districts.

“So, the opinions of regional authorities were also taken into account,” the secretary of the Russian Security Council said.
