President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko called Ukraine’s future priorities in the development of trade with the European Union.
In particular, the head of the Ukrainian state said that we are talking about strengthening customs cooperation, concluding an agreement on the assessment of conformity and acceptability of industrial products and on the adaptation of legislation in the sphere of sanitary and phytosanitary measures.
According to Poroshenko, the beginning of Ukraine’s application on January 1 of the provisions of the Regional Convention on Pan-Mediterranean preferential rules of origin will give the country a “new powerful impetus”.
The President stressed that three years ago in Ukraine, a free-trade zone with the EU was launched, and during its operation, the volume of trade between Ukraine and the European Union grew by 40%.
“The EU’s share in the export of Ukrainian products reached a historic high of 42.5%. The structure of Ukrainian exports has changed qualitatively towards value-added products, which accounted for 43% of exports to the European Union, ”he reported.
Poroshenko also added that free trade with the EU was the impetus for the conduct and completion of negotiations on an FTA with other major trading states of the world, such as Canada, Israel and Turkey.
