Next week, the European Union may adopt the “Azov package” of anti-Russian sanctions, if Russia does not release the Ukrainian sailors and does not ensure the freedom of navigation in the Kerch Strait.
This was stated by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
“I have no doubt that in the coming days, early next week, sanctions in Brussels in coordination with Ukraine will definitely be taken,” he said.
Poroshenko noted that “if there is no progress, sanctions will be applied in the near future.”
“We have coordinated our efforts on sanctions. Today, in general, the package of sanctions, the so-called “Azov package”, has been discussed and approved. This is exactly what I promised you in December, when we were forced to call on world solidarity, ”the Ukrainian president stressed.
