MILAN, December 6. /TASS/. Moscow expects that Brussels will succeed in getting Pristina to comply with the agreements on the creation of Serbian municipalities in northern Kosovo, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday, addressing the 25th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE Ministerial Council).

“Kosovo’s participation in OSCE-sponsored events as a state is unacceptable, just like pandering to Pristina’s actions that violate UN Security Council Resolution 1244,” the diplomat emphasized. “We expect that the European Union will make Pristina abide by its agreements with Belgrade under Brussels’ mediation, specifically as far as the creation of an association of Serbian municipalities in Kosovo goes.”

In 2013, Belgrade dissolved Serbian authorities, courts and local councils in Kosovo under the agreements reached with Pristina through EU mediation, having agreed to form them in accordance with law of the unrecognized republic. In 2014, the Brussels Agreement was signed, a document on the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina. It consists of 15 points, mainly devoted to the organization and powers of Serbian municipalities in northern Kosovo. Its provisions haven’t been fulfilled by Kosovo Albanians yet.
