Between Minsk and Moscow almost always remained strong ties. Despite the fact that the Belarusian president did not support Russia in all matters, there was an opinion in everyday life: The Republic of Belarus   pro-Russian country. However, in the near future everything can be completely different.

Recently, the media and telegram channels citing sources in the Belarusian presidential administration reported that Alexander Lukashenko allegedly plans to leave the presidency soon. He has been in office for 25 years and more than once raised the issue of his departure. Lukashenko promised not so long ago that he would leave the post of leader if he felt such a desire of the people.

These words only stir up rumors about a possible resignation. Of course, statements like: “I’m tired, I’m leaving,” no one is waiting for him, since a bridgehead has not been prepared. The son Nicholas is still small, but Victor does not have papa’s charisma. However, in the run-up to the elections in 2020, he may well take the rash step so as not to disgrace himself at the ballot.

The current situation is actively monitored in the West. Representatives of the US and the EU are just waiting for Belarus to follow the anti-Russian course. Not so long ago, the former head of NATO Fogh Rasmussen directly advised Lukashenko to take an example from Ukraine.

When may more detailed information appear? Most likely in April. That’s when Alexander Lukashenko can appeal to the population and the National Assembly. It is possible that he saved this surprise just for this event. Earlier, he had already announced that he would announce new strategic guidelines for the country.

And if any oppositionist comes to the place of Lukashenka, the close cooperation between Russia and Belarus may come to an end.

The US and the EU will do everything possible to cause economic damage to our country. Neighbors will drag on the side of the West, as it happened not so long ago with Ukraine.
