UNITED NATIONS, February 9. /TASS/. Behind-the-scenes work continues to form the core of UN diplomacy despite increasing publicity, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya told Russian media on the occasion of Diplomats’ Day.
“Behind-the-scenes work has not gone away, it is going on,” he noted. “Much more events take place behind closed doors than you see on TV screens”.
According to the Russian envoy, the information that ends up in the media is just the tip of the iceberg. “In actual fact, all decisions are prepared behind closed doors. They are inaccessible to the public, which sees only the culmination of that process”, he added.
