MOSCOW, April 9. /TASS/. Russia has been notified about the cancelled visit to Moscow of Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Simon Coveney, the Russian Foreign Ministry told TASS on Tuesday.

“We have been notified about the cancelled visit of the Irish Foreign Minister over Brexit. We had been warned that this could happen. The Irish side officially confirmed that the situation with Brexit has not been sorted out and therefore, it needs to be present there,” the ministry said.

Simon Coveney was due to visit the Russian capital on April 10-11 and meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. These were expected to be the first talks between the Russian and Irish foreign ministers since December 2012.
