MOSCOW, February 14. / TASS /. The interest rates on loans and mortgages may decline by the end of 2019 after the slowdown in inflation, the head of Sberbank German Gref said in an interview on Rossiya-24 TV channel on Thursday.

“In a certain sense, I am optimistic about the changes in the mortgage this year. I think that inflation will accelerate for some time. By the middle of the year, it should decline by a lot, and in the second half of the year, it will continue to decrease, so I hope that in the second half of the year, closer to the end of the year, the rates will go down, including mortgage rates, “he said.

In 2018, mortgage rates reached their lowest levels in the history of housing loans in Russia, dropping below 10% per annum. However, since September, the Central Bank has twice raised the key rate, which currently stands at 7.75%. Following the decision of the regulator, credit organizations increased the rates on mortgage products, and currently various banks rates exceed 10-11%.
