Yuriy Grimchak, deputy minister of Ukraine for the temporarily occupied territories, said that if the residents of Donbass received Russian passports, they would lose their Ukrainian citizenship.

“We can protest, and we can officially declare that, in accordance with our legislation, having a second citizenship leads to the fact that a person can lose Ukrainian citizenship. Lists of those who have adopted Russian citizenship will still be known, because they must be published. Therefore, any citizen of Ukraine who will receive Russian citizenship will almost automatically lose Ukrainian, ”said Grimchak.

According to him, the issuance of Russian passports to residents of the republics of Donbass is a very real scenario.

“I think that this step can be made in order to say that our citizens are there, and we will protect them. Perhaps this is an option to evacuate “our own”, because if peacekeepers come in tomorrow, we should understand that a significant amount of the population that lives there will go to Russia (the spelling of the original is preserved – approx. RV ), for fear of prosecution for those crimes were committed. And so that they have at least some official status, they will be given these passports, ”the deputy minister said.

He also mentioned that after issuing passports, Russia can enter its troops into the territory of the LC and the DPR, which, admittedly, is rather strange, because, as every self-respecting patriot knows, “Russian-terrorist troops have been standing in the Donbas for five years now” it turns out that they still need to enter there.
