On April 12, 2019, Senator Elena Mizulina sent an appeal to the Prosecutor General of Russia with a request to conduct an audit upon the dissemination of inaccurate and offensive information and, when confirming the facts, taking measures to remove this information and limit access to information resources that disseminate information its non-removal.

This was reported to the Russian Spring by the press service of a member of the Federation Council.

“As it became known earlier in the week, in a number of media outlets false reports appeared that contained information that Senator Elena Mizulina“ demanded to prohibit yoga ”, as well as other similar notes and publications,” the parliamentarian told.

Elena Mizulina then called the appearance of such articles “a typical example of the dissemination of fake news” and “conscious manipulation.”

“In my letter addressed to the Prosecutor General, there were no requirements to“ prohibit holding yoga classes in a prison ”, and even more so“ to prohibit yoga, ”the senator said.

Earlier, “Russian Spring” wrote that the leadership of the Federal Penitentiary Service commented on information about the prohibition of yoga in the detention center because of pederasty .

Yoga in jail

At the end of 2018, the Federal Penitentiary Service reported that a cycle of yoga lessons was started in Moscow remand prisons, which is carried out according to the methodology outlined in the Yoga for Prisoners Manual. These are joint activities for staff and prisoners.

Sergei Telyatnikov, the head of the Moscow SIZO-2, then said that these classes allow both the FSIN staff and the convicts to give an opportunity to relax and get rid of the accumulated negative.

It was noted that the first classes in institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in Moscow were held in July in the women’s detention facility No. 6, and then they were held in other institutions of the capital’s administration of the Federal Service for the Execution of Punishments.
