Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin
MOSCOW, December 31. /TASS/. The Russian delegation led by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin will fly to Brazil on Monday, where they will take part in the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Jair Bolsonaro on January 1, the Duma’s press service said on Sunday.
“On 1 January 2019 Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin will represent the Russian Federation at the inauguration ceremony of Brazil’s President-elect Jair Bolsonaro,” the press service said.
During the visit, Volodin will hold a meeting with Speaker of Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies (lower house of parliament) Rodrigo Maia.
The Russian delegation includes a Duma member from each faction – Deputy Speaker Olga Epifanova from “A Just Russia,” Yevgeny Primakov from “United Russia,” Alexey Kurinny from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), and Vadim Denghin from the Liberal Democratic Part of Russia (LDPR).
The officials will celebrate New Year on the plane. Olga Epifanova told TASS that the visit’s program will be very intensive as the Russian delegation will spend only about 10-11 hours in Brazil and fly back to Moscow right after that.
The second round of presidential election was held in Brazil on October 28. Bolsonaro who represents conservative Social Liberal Party (PSL – Partido Social Liberal) was elected president. Among other participants in Brazil’s presidential inauguration ceremony are Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US State Secretary Michael Pompeo, and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
