Chief Rabbi of Ukraine asked to extend the work of the polling stations (DOCUMENT)

Chief Rabbi of Ukraine and Kiev, Moshe Reuven Asman appealed to the Central Election Commission with a request to extend the work of some polling stations on the day of the second round of the presidential elections in Ukraine in connection with Pesakh. Rabbi published his appeal to the CEC on the social network.

“Due to the fact that the second round of the presidential elections in Ukraine falls on the second day of Pesach, during which, according to Jewish law, any work is prohibited before the stars rise, and in order to provide citizens who practice Judaism with the opportunity I ask April 21, 2019 to extend the work of some polling stations until 22:30, at least one polling station in large cities, ”the letter says.

Note that the elections will be held on April 21. Polling stations will close at 20:00.

In 2019, the Jews will meet Pesach at sunset on Friday, April 19, and it will last until Saturday, April 27.

Recall that the second round of the presidential elections in Ukraine will take place on Sunday, April 21.
