MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. The gunman who opened fire in a bar in the city of Thousand Oaks, California, killed himself as the police was arriving on the scene, local sheriff Geoff Dean stated on Thursday during a press conference transmitted by CNN.

Police identified the gunman as Ian David Long, a 29-year-old US Marine Corps veteran. He was dead when police arrived on the scene, Dean said.

The sheriff added that Long appeared to choose his targets at random once inside the bar, and no obvious motive has been established so far. He stated that the gunman used a Glock .45-caliber handgun.

On Wednesday night, a gunman opened fire at the Borderline Bar and Grill, in the Los Angeles suburb of Thousand Oaks, killing twelve people and then shooting himself. US President Donald Trump ordered flags to be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all US public buildings and grounds until November 10.
