MOSCOW, November 6. /TASS/. The authorities of Buenos Aires are ready to welcome Russian President Vladimir Putin at the second-leg match of the 2018 Copa Libertadores final between football clubs Boca Juniors and River Plate, Marca newspaper reported on Tuesday.
According to the daily, the Russian president will be welcome he decides to watch the match during his visit to Argentina for the G20 summit late this month.
“There will be no problems at all if Putin comes to watch the game,” the daily quoted Buenos Aires Security Minister Martin Ocampo as saying. “If Putin comes, we will resort to a special security protocol, intended for presidents.”
The first match of the 2018 Copa Libertadores final will be held at the Boca Juniors home stadium, La Bombonera, on November 10 and the return match will be played at the River Plate home stadium, El Monumental on November 26.
The G20 summit in Buenos Aires is scheduled for November 30. Although the Kremlin has not yet made an announcement on the exact dates of Putin’s visit to Argentina, it is highly unlikely that the Russian president will be in the Latin American country six days before the summit kicks off.
