YEKATERINBURG, December 5. /TASS/. Over 300 athletes from 90 countries will participate in the AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships in Russia’s Yekaterinburg in September 2019, Regional Sports Minister Leonid Rapoport told TASS on Wednesday.

“Athletes from about 90 countries will participate in the event, there will be more than 300 of them. The logistics is clear, as well as the location of facilities. Special boxing rings will be built, in this regard we will cooperate with municipal authorities,” Rapoport said.

The Yekaterinburg-EXPO exhibition center will be the main venue hosting the tournament. More than 2,000 guests are expected to attend the championships.

“We already have experience in hosting sporting events at the Yekaterinburg-EXPO center, so I think that there will be no issues in this connection,” the minister stressed.

It was announced earlier on Wednesday that the AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships will take place in Yekaterinburg.
